Intense!!

Friday night we were actually able to go see a movie. After nine months we finally got the courage to get a babysitter. We had a one of the young women in our ward come over and watch Hayden. Actually all she had to do was listen for her. Hayden was in bed when she got here and didn't make a peep the whole night. Tough job!
We went and saw the new Batman movie. The best word to describe it is intense. It defiantly lived up to the hype. Colin loved it, but it might have been a bit much for me. The Joker was INSANE!!! Every time he was on the screen I had my hands ready to cover my eyes. It was a very well done movie and for a super hero movie there wasn't a lot of corny story line or totally fake action scenes. I don't know if I would watch it again, but its defiantly worth seeing one time.

Thugs "R" Us

We have had a very busy past couple of weeks. I am still waiting for pictures from family members, so when I get those I will post about our trip to Utah Valley, Blanding and the Fourth of July. In the mean time enjoy our recent fun with Hayden (aka 'Orange Slyce').
She was starting to feel a little threatened here in Phoenix, so she decided it was time to show her fellow Phoenician thugs what she's made of.

Heat & Snow Cones(or the lack there of)

So today when I walked out of the apartment around 1:30pm I thought to myself "wow it feels pretty good out here." I thought maybe the temperature had gotten down to 109 or 110. Well, I must be getting to used to the heat or something because when I got in my car it said 117!!!!

So we all know Phoenix is hot, probably the hottest state in the country. Well many of you may not know that they have a ban on the sale of snow cones. Just kidding, not really, but there has got to be something going on because I have not seen one snow shack since I have been here. I really don't get it; its a thousand degrees outside and they don't have one of the tastiest, most refreshing summer time treats!! If you know me you know that this is a very big concern for me. If I was planning on living here for a long time I might consider opening a chain of snow shacks throughout the valley, but since I won't be here much longer (hopefully) I will just keep on complaining...and thinking about Hillbillies and the Scera snow shack!!

Hairnet Phobia

Since Hayden was about three months old whenever strangers would look at her and talk to her she would burst into tears. Well over the past couple of months she has been doing much better except when we go to Costco. When ever we get a sample and the ladies talk to her she starts to cry and not just a little cry she acts like she has just seen a ghost!! I couldn't figure it out and thought maybe she was just scared of old ladies.
Well, yesterday we made our weekly trip to Costco and as were walking down an isle with Hayden sitting in the cart she turns around and spots the sample girl (not an old lady this time) half way down the isle. She starts shaking, tries to hold back the tears and then finally breaks down into uncontrollable sobs before we even got close her. I went and got my sample and the girl felt so bad; I told her I didn't think it was her I thought it was the hair nets they wear...I hope that made her feel better. So I'm pretty sure thats what it is, my child has a fear of hair nets!! I want to test it at home by coming out of the bathroom wearing a shower cap, but I think that would probably traumatize her for life.

Finally!

Hayden's hair is finally long enough to be tamed. I can put cute little tiny barrettes in the front, but the back still sticks straight up. Hopefully it will start growing soon, it is pretty crazy! Also if you haven't noticed in some of the other pictures she has quite a few teeth, seven to be exact. They are so cute and tiny, I love them!!


Her favorite past time is playing with the door stops. I looked over today and she had pulled that white thing off the end and was just about to pop it into her mouth. Luckily I stopped her before she succeeded.

Prescott AZ

Colin and I really like traveling and since we can't afford a big trip every weekend, we try to take little trips every now and then. Today we went North to Prescott (pronounced Prescett). It is a really cute little town. They had a farmers market and a car show going on so we walked around there for a bit trying to find something for breakfast. All they had was salsa and funnel cakes so we opted for 'Gramma's bakery' down the street. We got there and she had chocolate, lemon, raspberry and custard "Napoleons." Maybe all of you know what a Napoleon is, but Colin and I didn't so I asked the "nice old lady" what they were and she acted as if I was the dumbest person she had ever met. She was like "are you kidding me, it says on the sign. Where are you from that you have never heard of a Napoleon pastry?"
Ahhhhh, sorry for asking!!!!
Needless to say we were too scared to leave so we each got one and our total came out to $9.85!! We could have got a whole meal at Denny's for that price. Anyway after that we went to a grocery store and got some Doritos because the Napoleons did not fill us up.
Prescott has a really pretty lake surrounded by pine trees, so we walked around there for awhile and ran into quite a few people fishing (aka drinking). On our way home we made a stop at the outlets to continue my search for the perfect 4th of July outfit for Hayden. I have been on a hunt for about a month now and can't seem to find a cute outfit that is conducive to a crawling baby. The other night I had a nightmare that I ended up having to go to Alco in Blanding the day before the 4th to get an outfit! Hopefully it won't come down to that!!
We had a great day in Prescott and have crossed off one more thing on our list to do in Phoenix before we move back to Utah!!
